Well, we did it – we have started the process of putting together the nursery. What better was is there to start than with the crib? After clearing out the guestroom by moving the bed to the basement (the new guestroom) and selling some furniture, we finally have some room for our little boy to live.
My parents were generous enough to purchase our baby his crib and mattress (thank you thank you thank you), but of course, it came in a million pieces. We decided it would be a good idea for both of us to put it together. Now if you know us at all, I am a planner and Michael is a "fly by the seat of his pants" kind of person, so of course I grabbed the directions while he started spreading out all of the pieces.
I wanted to make sure we had everything before starting, but Michael thought it would be easiest to just start with the changing table. And voila! - we created a changing table (sorry for the picture quality)....
We figured we had gotten this far, might as well finish, and about an hour later, we had something that resembled a crib! We used all the pieces, all the right screws...just amazing what a couple of grown adults can do when they set their minds to it ;). It has a nice linen drawer underneath and lots of storage on the changing table - just perfect!
(Just ignore the cat clock - it is not staying there and Michael is trying to figure out where he wants to move it to) EDIT - The cat clock may be staying. It really ties the room together.
So as most of you know, another big purchase for a child is the stroller. We are pretty outdoorsy and knew we wanted a jogging stroller that could go "off-road" on hiking trails, etc. Well, Michael's wonderful parents (thank you thank you thank you) bought us a "tank" of a jogging stroller - a BOB Sport Utility from REI - I am really excited to go pick it up next week. Is it scary that I am excited about a baby stroller? I mean, take a look at this thing....
We also go the infant insert, so our baby will be hitting the trail soon after birth whether he likes it or not.
So we are making progress....the great news is that IKEA opened in Denver this week, can't wait to see what we can pick up there!
YAY FOR THE BOB!!! I'm so excited you got one - you're going to absolutely love it. The crib looks good, and you're right, the cat clock really ties the room together :)
ReplyDeleteThat first picture makes crib-building look a little intimidating! Glad you guys conquered it - looks great :)
